Todd Giatrelis, CEO

Todd Giatrelis, CEO

A native of Arlington, MA and lifelong entrepreneur, Todd is the Chairman and co-Founder of Flip Flop Shops®, the world's first retail chain exclusive to the hottest brands and latest styles of flip flops and sandals. The recipient of the International Council of Shopping Centers' prestigious "Hot Retailer Award", Flip Flop Shops® was founded in 2004 and has been recognized in the Entrepreneur 500 list, as well as the INC 500.

Prior to co-founding Flip Flop Shops®, Todd was President and CEO of The Gates Group, a leading Woburn-based retail recruiting and consulting company he founded in 1996. The Gates Group specialized in connecting retail managers, assistant managers, and corporate staff with new positions at some of the most sought-after retail companies across the country. The Gates Group provided consulting services to individuals wishing to start their own retail businesses, as well as those interested in purchasing a franchise.

Todd was a standout hockey forward while he attended Suffolk University in Boston, MA, and is also a former member the Board of Trustees for Regis College in Weston, MA.

Mr. Giatrelis currently resides in Belmont, MA with his wife and two daughters.

Sarah Towne, COO

Sarah Towne, COO

Sarah is co-Founder of Flip Flop Shops®, the world's first retail chain exclusive to the hottest brands and latest styles of flip flops and sandals. The recipient of the International Council of Shopping Centers' prestigious "Hot Retailer Award," Flip Flop Shop® was founded in 2004 and has been recognized in the Entrepreneur 500 list, as well as the INC 500. She currently oversees the Operational side of the business, running Flip Flop Shops University – the training program for all new shop owners and managers.

Prior to co-founding Flip Flop Shops®, Sarah worked as a retail consultant for The Gates Group, a leading Woburn-based retail recruiting and consulting company, where she was able to work on all aspects of the development and planning stages of creating retail businesses. Sarah has also worked in sales at several major mall-based retail chains.

She is a 2002 graduate of Boston College with a B.A. in Communication, cum laude. While attending BC, Sarah was active as a staff writer for The Heights, the Boston College Student Weekly Newspaper, as well as Vice President of the Boston College Chapter of the Student Alumni Council. Ms. Towne is a member of the Order of the Cross and Crown, the School of Arts & Sciences Honor Society recognizing academic achievement and leadership on campus.

Ash Shimabukuro, Vice President

Ash Shimabukuro, Vice President

As Vice President for Sound Lion, Ashley is responsible for overall company activities, brand relationships, new store development and merchandise planning. In addition, Ashley is actively involved in corporate operations, franchisee training and operational support.

She was formerly a Franchise Support Manager at Flip Flop Shops®, the world's first retail chain exclusive to the hottest brands and latest styles of flip flops and sandals. The recipient of the International Council of Shopping Centers' prestigious "Hot Retailer Award," Flip Flop Shops® was founded in 2004 and has been recognized in the Entrepreneur 500 list, as well as the INC 500.

At Flip Flop Shops®, Ashley was responsible for all opening training and ongoing support of individual shop owners in the areas of Point of Sale System Operations, Marketing, Staffing, Sales and Customer Service, and all other areas of running a retail operation. Prior to joining the Flip Flop Shops® team, she held management positions at various national retail chains, including Steve Madden, and Tilly's – a California-based retail chain specializing in active lifestyle clothing and accessories.

A native of Orange County, California, Ashley has a deep love of music, and always has a pair of headphones within arm's reach. Ashley currently resides in Arlington, MA with her son and daughter.

Ash Shimabukuro, Vice President

Lisa Davis, Director of Finance & Administration

As another local, born and thrives in Somerville, MA, Lisa is the Director of Finance & Administration. Started with Sound Lion, Inc in August 2013 overseeing all financial aspects on a daily, monthly, quarterly and yearly basis for all subsidiaries and at corporate level. Recording daily sales and banking to A/P & A/R to journal entries and intercompany transactions to reconciliations and month end closes to financial statements and analysis to list just a few fiscal responsibilities.

A 2008 UMass Lowell graduate double majored in Accounting and Finance, Lisa began her professional career as the General Accountant for Marriott Vacations Club International: Custom House while still in school from 2007-2008. Post-graduation in 2008, she went to work for Legal Sea Foods, LLC where she signed on as the Senior Accounting Associate and worked her way up to Accounting Supervisor in 2010. Overseeing the work of 5 staff level associates on month end close procedures, P&L’s and reporting responsibilities while generating and implementing new procedures to all accounting associates and managers in training regarding accounting principles and processes to ensure the time management and efficiency of the department.

On her off time, Lisa works part-time as a Game Night Manager at the Boston Bruins ProShop at TD Garden as well as a Promotional Specialist for Team Enterprises representing several beer and liquor portfolios in and surrounding Boston and RI. Her passions for traveling and shopping keep her motivated and when not working, she likes to relax and spend quality time with family and friends. Work hard, play hard with music always a constant sums up the life of Lisa.

Ash Shimabukuro, Vice President

John Martarano, Director of Operations

As Director of Operations, John oversees the day-to-day activities of all Sound Lion locations including customer relations; staffing and employee management; inventory management; visual merchandising; in-store and external marketing and promotions; developing and implementing operational processes and sales strategies. John is also responsible for initial store set-up and store openings.

A graduate of the University Of Central Florida College Of Business, John earned a B.A in Marketing in December 2010. After spending several years working in fine-dining, John traded in his apron and began his retail career February 2011 as a Sales Associate of Flip Flop Shops®; a franchise company named toInc. 500 | 5000 list of fastest-growing U.S.-based private companies for five consecutive years. After one year in a shop, John was promoted to the corporate level March 2012 as a Franchise Support Manager where, in addition to his Sound Lion duties, he is currently tasked with training franchisees and their staff in sales techniques, customer service, product knowledge, and general operations; on-site shop openings; system-wide franchisee compliance and support; and customer service.

A native of Chicago, IL, John currently resides in Naples, FL where he lives and dies with his Chicago sports teams (North Sider). He also enjoys playing the guitar, collecting classic vinyl records, traveling to music festivals, and can’t pass up a good margarita with family and friends.
